1. Plant-Based Menu
Carbon neutrality is the principle that a company offsets
any carbon dioxide it’s releasing into the atmosphere by doing something
positive in return, like planting trees. Therefore it comes out even in terms
of carbon emissions.
Sweetgreen is curating a low-carbon collection of plant-rich
salads, with the plan for the brand to be 100 percent carbon neutral across the menu by 2027. The Low Carbon Salad collection is plant-based, which eliminates
poultry and cheese, two ingredients high in carbon emissions. Plants are less
stress to the earth than meat and dairy farming, so a plant-rich menu slashes
carbon emissions for the whole company.
