If you've seen even one episode of "Ted Lasso" (and if you haven't, all I can say is ????), you know how large of a role the biscuits Ted hand-delivers to Rebecca's desk every morning play. Of all the television and movies I've watched, there's never been a fictional snack I've wanted to try more. You just know they're melt-in-your-mouth delicious. And while we'll never quite experience these biscuits (they're made with Ted's love, after all), we can get pretty close.
Tell us how!!!
Well, The TODAY Show actually claims to have the official recipe for the biscuits, shared by Apple TV execs themselves, which calls for a simple ingredient list of flour, butter, powdered sugar and salt. Execution is easy, too: Blend together, refrigerate for 30 minutes, cut into biscuit-sized slices and bake for 45 to 60 minutes.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoons coarse salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
- 3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 300° F.
- Sift flour and salt, mix into bowl and set aside.
- Mix butter on high speed until fluffy (3 to 5 minutes).
- Add sugar slowly.
- Add flour all at once and mix until combined.
- Butter a square pan, then roll shortbread into pan no more than 1/2-inch thick.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Cut into squares and bake until golden, approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
- Cool completely and serve!
That's it?
That's it! Some recipes add some vanilla extract, others prefer to use cold vegan butter, but the point is that anyone can have Ted's biscuits at home. Happy baking!
