Stanley Tucci has always
been a great actor: From favorite films like “Big Night” and “The Hunger Games”
series, he infuses all of his characters with wit, style and humanity. But then
I saw him make a quarantine cocktail for his wife, and I suddenly woke up to the
fact that I’ve been sleeping on Stanley Tucci as a sex symbol.
In the video, Tucci makes a classic Milanese cocktail for
wife Felicity Blunt (yes, she’s the sister of his “The Devil Wears Prada”
co-star Emily Blunt, making him John Krasinski’s brother-in-law). A Negroni, we learn, is gin, sweet vermouth (not the crappy stuff you
normally buy) and Campari liqueur, usually served on the rocks, but Tucci
prefers it straight up, shaken with ice with an orange slice floating atop. Aperol
spritz fans, take note, as you will probably love this drink, too.
Tucci fixes the drink with a bartender’s precision, flexing
his enormous bicep as he agitates the cocktail shaker. His quarantine clothing
is a tight pair of jeans and a sleek black polo, with a belt of course. How
many of you have been wearing a belt, never mind button pants, during your time
at home? He is well-groomed with not a speck of stubble and cheekily teases
his wife with the cocktail before handing it over. Find a man who acts and
dresses like this in a crisis, and you have truly won the game.
By the way, this man is 60 years old. He loves traveling, wine and food in addition
to knowing his way around a bar. This is a man that all men should aspire to be.
Tucci has authored cookbooks,
is a Londoner by way of New York and a father of five children, ranging in
age from a 2-year-old toddler to 19-year-old twins. Yet the man still
finds time to chill while looking dapper as heck.
Tucci and Felicity have been married for eight years. The two first met at the movie premiere for “The Devil Wears Prada,” when Tucci’s first wife, Kathryn, was still alive (she passed away in 2009 due to breast cancer) and later reconnected in 2010 at Blunt's sister Emily's wedding to Krasinski, held in the magical setting of George Clooney’s Lake Como house. It doesn’t get more fairytale than that.
Felicity co-authored a cookbook with Tucci, and she’s also a dazzling literary agent with a roster of clients including Jennifer Egan ("Manhattan Beach"). It looks like this renaissance man has found his match. Trying hard not to be jealous.
I hope that Tucci makes some more quarantine content, especially cocktails, as it is pertinent info that we can use. An attractive man making a perfect drink is everything in this increasingly closed-in world. Thank you, Stanley Tucci, for bringing this important PSA to our attention.
