1. Bee's Knees
Like most cocktails, nobody's quite sure who, what or where should get the credit for their invention, but the Bee's Knees comes with a fun story: Legend has it that it's creation lies with "the unsinkable Molly Brown," aka Margaret Tobin Brown, who was one of the 712 who survived the sinking of the Titanic and one of the passengers who insisted that her lifeboat return to look for other survivors.
Brown lived in both Paris and Denver, so although the Bee's Knees seems to have originated in Paris, its ingredients suggest Prohibition Era- inclinations: the tart lemon and sweet honey would have been used to cover up the taste of the low-quality gin that was smuggled around at the time.
