Baked Feta Tomato Pasta feels like a million years ago,
doesn’t it? We’ve seen many iterations of it since, including a strawberry feta
version or Boursin-tomato bakes. Here we are, a year later and the first new
viral TikTok recipe of the year is a nod to charcuterie boards: Grape, Walnut and Brie pasta.
First, you add two small wheels of Brie cheese (with the
rind on) and a large bunch of washed green grapes to a baking dish. Sprinkle
with walnuts, salt and pepper; drizzle with olive oil and bake. Drizzle honey
on the brie and sprinkle with fresh thyme. Enjoy a glorious cheese pull or two
as you mix before adding in cooked pasta. Toss again, sprinkle with parmesan
cheese, sprinkle with more walnuts and thyme and broil until bubbly, watching
that the walnuts don’t burn.
You now have toasty walnuts, warm cheese and hot, squishy
grapes. Are you still with us?
I mean, the flavors do go together, as we’ve seen
brie, nut and grapes all on a cheese tray before. Sometimes, tomatoes can be
really sweet and very similar in texture, so it’s not that weird.
TikTok
reactions seem pretty divided, though. TikToker Jennifer Valentyne taste tested it with her husband, who said it did have a little something to it.
“It’s like drinking beer when you’re six,” he said. "The more you drink this,
the better it gets.” But then he said the grapes were actually a bummer to eat.
“Instead of being a bonus, it’s like 'Sh--, I got a grape.'” The couple
ultimately rated it four out of 10 (him) and two out of 10 (her). Jennifer’s
husband recommends just having pasta with a jar of tomato sauce instead and
calling it a day.
Some other brave souls on TikTok attempted it as well and said it was
pretty good, but a lot of the other related videos dueted with the original video
for comedy purposes, like this one by The Pasinis, who sprinkled holy water at the dish.
Most who commented hadn't tried the dish, so there still isn't a consensus on how it all actually tastes. We don't think that will be happening any time soon, as the warm grapes seem to be a real deal breaker for most people.
