1. Cocchi Americano
Cocchi Americano isn’t a cocktail per se, but a brand of fortified
white wine with botanicals, similar to the bygone Kina Lillet. There’s tons of classic
cocktails you can add it into, but the simplest presentation is the best — add soda
water and a grapefruit wedge, sip and enjoy.
2. Spaghett
No, this isn’t pasta, but instead Miller High Life with Aperol
and lemon juice. Basically, it’s a down-and-dirty version of an Aperol Spritz.
The beer is so mild and champagne-like (Miller High Life is the “champagne of
beers,” after all) that it actually works. The name was coined by a bartender
after a random character from the show “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!”
3. Hugo Spritz
Bartenders are putting St Germain, an elderflower liqueur, in
everything for a punch of herbal flavor. It finally gets to be the star here
along with mint, prosecco and soda water. It’s bubbly,
refreshing and a little floral.
4. Espresso Tonic
If you’re hooked on espresso martinis, try this lighter
twist where coffee meets tonic water. It leans into the acidity of the espresso
with an actual twist of lemon and an extra citrus kick from the quinine.
5. Limoncello Spritz
Spritzes are everywhere this summer and this entry replaces
the Aperol with lemony Limoncello. Top the syrupy liqueur with prosecco and club
soda. It’s almost like a spiked lemonade.
6. Blackberry Spritz
This spritz is fruity and fun. Take cava (Spanish sparkling
wine), black currant liqueur (like Chambord), soda water and fresh blackberries
and combine for a Dirty Shirley-like sipper.
